Where it started

MeadowGrass was founded in 2009 by a dedicated group of community volunteers and local businesses representing La Foret Conference & Retreat Center, the Bee Vradenburg Foundation, A Music Company Inc., the Western Jubilee Recording Company, KRCC, and Bristol Brewing. In our first year the two-day festival attracted an audience of just 150-200 people per day.

In 2010 we expanded the festival to three days and began offering the public the opportunity to camp at this beautiful property. The response was enthusiastic and the festival has grown ever since, while still remaining one of the more intimate venues to see up-and-coming artists before they hit the big time, with an average attendance of 1200-1500 people per day.

“The positive impact of the MeadowGrass Music Festival on a music community so closely knit as Colorado Springs is invaluable”

— Joe Johnson, local musician and songwriter

After five years it became apparent that the festival had grown to a point where it needed professional management and a new local non-profit organization, Rocky Mountain Highway, stepped in to take over management of MeadowGrass. Over the past three years we have “weathered” many challenges and helped the festival to grow while still remaining true to its local, independent roots.

“Despite the rain, the Seventh Annual MeadowGrass Music Festival was amazing and I think the music may have been the best ever.”

-Susan Edmondson, President & CEO at The Downtown Partnership of Colorado Springs

Without our dedicated corps of more than 100 volunteers and our loyal audience that has made an annual pilgrimage to MeadowGrass year after year, we simply could not continue to make this amazing event possible. Thank you for joining us on this journey!
